Through this experience I have learned independence. I studied for four months in Differdange, Luxembourg where I had the opportunity to travel to eleven countries throughout Europe. My classes were taught by European professors, which allowed me to learn through a different lens. I lived in Luxembourg City with a host family through whom I was taught the Luxembourgish way of life. By traveling nearly every weekend and on breaks, I was forced to discover how to navigate in new places without understanding the language. When problems did arise, I gained knowledge through compromise and making the best of every situation. Through this invaluable experience I learned to think for myself and trust in my own judgments and abilities, in order to make decisions that are the best for me.
Urbino, Italy: Italian Language Intensive

During the summer after my freshman year of college, I had the amazing opportunity to study for six and a half weeks in Urbino, Italy. Urbino is a small town in the northern-central region of Le Marche, close to Pesaro and San Marino. Here I participated in the two hundred level Italian language intensive program through Università Urbino, where I learned grammar and culture through classes only taught in the Italian language. Living in this walled city aided me in developing my language skills where I conversed with locals daily in Italian, as they did not know English, in interactions such as grocery shopping, buying books, or ordering at a restaurant. I also had the chance to travel around Central Italy, where I learned how to navigate using the Italian language as well.
